Intercept
Potential local interception, subject to site evidence and approval.
Waste Project · Advanced technical concept library
YSI Africa preserves this 16-step concept as a technical thinking library. The current Waste Project stage is Phase 0 — Evidence & Operational Design. Phase 0 is non-thermal and is designed to determine what the waste stream, operating environment, economics, safeguards and regulatory requirements actually justify.
Conditional concept sequence
The sequence is deliberately separated from the main Waste Project page so the public project proposition remains focused on Intercept → Measure → Sort → Recover → Route → Learn → Replicate.
Potential local interception, subject to site evidence and approval.
Compliant collection and haulage through authorized operating arrangements.
Auditable weight, location and load records.
Hazard and contamination screening.
Material identification and characterization.
Separate streams for evidence-based routing.
Recovery, treatment or disposal only through justified pathways.
Long-term hypothesis only if characterization justifies it.
Conditional technical step, not Phase 0.
Conditional technical step, not Phase 0.
Technical hypothesis requiring fuel-quality and market validation.
Conditional thermal hypothesis requiring full safeguards and approvals.
Conditional residue-control concept.
Any ash pathway would require compliant testing and regulation.
A later unit would be considered only after a first operating model is proven.
Multiple units could form a wider Freetown network only after evidence supports replication.
