Partner with YSI Africa.

Young Sustainability Initiative (YSI Africa) is a Sierra Leonean environmental nonprofit building practical systems from field experience. The proposition is simple: measure the problem, test realistic responses, document the result and scale only what the evidence supports.

Why YSI

Field experience is being converted into testable operating systems.

YSI seeks support for bounded work that produces evidence and informs later infrastructure or ecological decisions.

01 · Field experienceReal operating context

Direct work with coastal waste, cleanup logistics, collection and material handling in Freetown.

02 · Evidence disciplineClaims match proof status

Historical, documented, development-stage and verified claims are treated differently.

03 · Decision logicMeasure first. Build second.

Infrastructure or restoration is considered only after evidence, costs, authority requirements and technical review.

Current funding priorities

Two bounded opportunities.

YSI's internal field, evidence, routing, technical-review and final-audit architecture is built. Funding will be attached to bounded, costed field designs—not predetermined facilities or interventions.

Current funding proposition

Freetown Circular Waste Recovery Project — Phase 0

Purpose: determine where coastal waste leakage persists, what can realistically be intercepted or recovered, where material should be routed, what it costs and what should be built next—if anything.

Stage
Evidence and operational design. Physical deployment remains conditional on permissions, operating relationships and final methodology.
Funding produces
A defined pilot geography, auditable measurement and characterization, routing and cost evidence, and operating requirements.
Decision
GO / NO-GO / MODIFY recommendation on any later resource-recovery unit or infrastructure.
Core outputs
  • pilot geography and leakage-point definition;
  • quantity, composition and pathway evidence;
  • recovery, routing and cost analysis;
  • evidence-backed next-stage recommendation.
Costing: the Phase 0 requirement will be shared after scope, site, methodology, authority pathway and provider requirements are sufficiently defined and approved.
Planning / funding-readiness stage

Aberdeen Creek Protection & Recovery Project — Baseline

Purpose: establish a credible baseline, authority pathway and technical decision framework before selecting any planting, engineering or restoration action.

Stage
Evidence acquisition, authority coordination and technical review. Physical intervention remains behind project-specific gates.
Funding produces
Boundary and GIS evidence, georeferenced field baseline, stressor analysis, technical-review inputs and monitoring design.
Decision
Proceed, modify, defer or no-go based on evidence, ecological suitability, authority requirements and technical review.
Core outputs
  • authoritative boundary and georeferenced baseline;
  • waste-leakage and stressor assessment;
  • technical options and monitoring framework;
  • GO / MODIFY / NO-GO recommendation.
Costing: the first-phase requirement will follow the approved technical scope, authority pathway and current local cost evidence.

Institutional readiness

Evidence and due diligence remain explicit.

Contact is not partnership. Readiness claims are kept separate from completed external verification.

Due-diligence pathway

Qualified institutional counterparts can request appropriate organizational and project records. Sensitive banking or personal information remains within the proper due-diligence process.
