YSI's historical 20,000+ kg figure is supported by extensive documentation of cleanup, collection, movement and field logistics in Freetown. The original mass-calculation source has not yet been recovered, so YSI does not currently describe the figure as independently verified.
Our field activity at Lumley Beach provides direct experience with mixed coastal waste, public-space cleanup, manual material handling and waste leakage. That operational experience now informs the move toward measurement, characterization, material recovery and stronger environmental systems.

YSI is developing Phase 0 - Evidence & Operational Design for a localized Freetown waste-leakage and resource-recovery initiative. The current Phase 0 is non-thermal and focuses on measurement, characterization, recovery/routing analysis, operating costs and a later evidence-based decision.
